Hello Friends,

My job description also does not match completely with NOC...list but my employer said they can modify it according to my need...will it work or no? I have Biology/industrial Microbiology/Chemistry Background...that is related to my job....

I am also worried about Company...Because it is a meat packaging company...Is this Ok to work in this kind of company and apply under CEC...?

No Consultant properly answer these questions....and charge 200-250 dollars....

I think you should not take chances. As you mentioned that your background is physics and chemistry and you are working in meat packaging company. One thing I would like you to suggest choose your NOC category very very carefully I have seen applications getting rejected due to improper NOC code as the responsibilities does not match. I hope I have answered your questions

well if you believe that you are performing the duties as per your study then its ok. but please make sure check the NOC code and the duties very carefully before you apply or send the application.

you know what i dont think so what it matters is your experience hours per week and your noc code. may be any other senior member can shed light on this salary issue. as far as i'm concerned you should be ok but ask other members also see what they say

You are being given very bad advice here - cec does not require that your job is related to your studies - for the purpose of cec your education doesn't matter.

1) you need 12 months of ft experience - skilled.
2) you need to choose a noc code that best matches your duties. To be eligible the noc needs to be skills level 0 a or b.
3) it doesn't need to match exactly, but having the majority of duties as outlined will make the chances of success higher.
4) your company packing meat is irrelevant. All that matters is that it's a Canadian company who has legally employed you in a skilled profession.

Good luck with your application.

That's Great...Congrats Harjinder...then please tell me salary really matters or not?
I do not know if your salary is low for your position but if it is and you are working legally, I couldn't get the logic of having your LMO approved by HRSDC stating a lower pay.. unless your employer is violating labour laws and giving you lesser pay than what you should get.

Salary inconsistencies though not specifically mentioned in CEC checklist, may raise red flags on an applicant's case. CIC may doubt the authenticity of the work experience an applicant is claiming. Remember, skill levels O, A and B being higher skill levels, get better pays as well so it would really help your application if you can prove as much as you can that you are being paid in a job that requires that kind of pay.

I'd say salary is not a requirement but definitely a part of the puzzle a VO puts all together to make a decision on an application.

I think you are right to be concerned about the NOC - Unfortunately, I think you are probably NOC 9465 (based on industry/work environment), and that does not qualify as "skilled".

http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2011/ProfileKeyword.aspx?val=9&val1=9465&val11=quality+control&val12=0&val13=0&val14=&val15=0&val16=0

You can look at 2211, but I think you'll have a hard time convincing CIC that this is what you do -

http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2011/ProfileKeyword.aspx?val=2&val1=2211&val11=quality%20control&val12=0&val13=0&val14=&val15=0&val16=0

If you can get a promotion to a manager/supervisor position where you are, that work would qualify.
