CEC - for PGWP holders

Hello Folks,

I've been wondering if there are any changes to the CEC requirements...as I know earlier it was 2years of PG study and 1 year of experience or .......2 years of work experience.

But now it looks its changed for 1 year skilled exp are eligible in whose case One year MBAs or Masters are now eligible for 1 year PGWP and then can apply for CEC provided they have enough hours.

According to the Canadian National Occupational Classification (NOC), skilled work experience means:
•Managerial jobs (NOC skill type 0)
•Professional jobs (NOC skill type A)
•Technical jobs and skilled trades (NOC skill type B)

You must have at least 12 months of full-time, or an equal amount in part-time, skilled work experience. Full-time work means at least 30 hours of paid work per week.

To find out which group your job falls under, see the list of jobs and their NOC groups. Follow the steps to find the NOC group that matches your job.

If the details and list of main duties for a job under NOC skill types 0, A or B match what you did while you worked in Canada, your job is likely in that group. If it does not, look at the list to see if another job matches your experience.


So, technically, if you finish your Masters or whatever other course and you have 1 year experience as noted above, then you can apply under CEC.

but, if i complete 2-year master's program? can i apply without any job? or still i need job for applying in CEC? if still i need, then what's the benefit of 2-year masters?

Well, what you could do is make sure you work part time during your Masters so that by the time you finish you would have very minimum time to work in order to get to the required 12 month period.

1. Incorrect. First you must be a graduate before you start accumulating time under CEC requirement of 12 months, could be part/full time job under NOC O/A/B.

Yes.

"Note: Any periods of self-employment, unauthorized work, or periods of employment during which you were engaged in full-time study (e.g. work experience gained on a co-op, off-campus or on-campus work permit) will not be included when calculating the period of qualifying work experience."

1. if i do a masters of 16 months... then AFTER the masters program, if will have 16 months TO LIVE without any job in Canada even i manage any job at all?

2. if so, then on the 15th month, if i get a permanent full time job... can i continue that job for 1 year and then apply PNP?

can you kindly confirm please?

2. Yes, you can continue only if your employer apply and secure a positive LMO on your behalf. You get a positive LMO when no other Canadian citizen or PR is available for the said job.

so, to avoid this LMO problem,

if i can get a full time job on 2nd month and continue untill 14th month (given that i have 16 months work permit), that means i can apply through PNP WITHOUT LMO issue (where no canadian/PR availablity is not a problem)?

can you kindly enlighten?
