Hello,

I'm a java software developer. So I chose NOC 2174.

Here is my responsibilities list from the employer letter:

• Providing accurate and efficient Java-based implementations of business requirements and technical designs;
• Participating in the design and planning process with the Team Lead, Project Manager, and other Developers and Analysts;
• Contributing to improving the quality and design of the existing code base by refactoring and optimizing legacy code if necessary; and
• Providing production support by investigating and fixing code related bugs reported by clients and Business Analysts.

Could you please confirm that the above responsibilities conform with NOC 2174 or should I paraphrase is somehow?

Looking forward to hear from you ASAP.

Thanks in advance

Thanks Jaya1985!

However I've read NOC 2174 description like 10 times already.

What I asked however was if my description would look conforming to 2174 for the officer. For me it is. But I wanted to hear some other opinions.

dizzy,

I had the same doubts as you, with my NOC. As was suggested to me, I emailed HRSDC and had them confirm the best suitable NOC for the description. You may want to try the same. The only snag is that it takes them about 2 weeks to respond. If you want to try, the email is below..

Some suggested revisions - for starters, remember you are not writing for another software developer, you are writing for an educated lay audience (visa officer). I have no idea what "providing implementations" means - if you write code, say so, in plain language.

• Providing accurate and efficient Java-based implementations of business requirements and technical designs;
Do you mean, "Develop Java-based applications that accurately and efficiently meet business requirements"?

• Participateing in the design and planning process [OF WHAT?] with the Team Lead, Project Manager, and other Developers and Analysts;
• Contributeing to improving the quality and design of the existing code base by refactoring and optimizing legacy code if necessary; and
• Provide production support by investigating and fixing code related bugs reported by clients and Business Analysts.

Seniors: Please advise.

If I take employer letter in this month from my supervisor can I use it to apply my PR under CEC in Mar mid or end?
Does it matter? Why I am asking this is, if I go to my supervisor in next month before I apply for PR he/she may change mind. We never know or they may say some excuses.

Note: I completed 1 yr in Canada in 2 months back.

srionline117,

Good enough. Just make sure the letter covers the entire period of qualifying work experience. As per my understanding, Reference letter issued within the last 03 months from the date of submission is good. Though there is no clear guideline on this requirement.

Yes, the letter is supposed to be "recent," which is not defined. Generally, I would say to try to make sure it was less than 1 month old at the time of applying, but the key is that the letter is written AFTER you have completed your experience... You should be OK if you ask for it now.

Just before asking the reference letter from supervisor/manager I got this doubt. The letter template has all but no 'role'. Assumption was based on activities provided in letter CIC officer will judge and move forward. Anyways, CIC has NOC code and role in latest WP as 2171/information systems analyst in their database and on WP xerox. Is this OK or I must have the role in the letter specified? Pls advise soon......The template has our company designation as "M-1".

Note: The letter has our company designation as a code "M-1" but no description of designation as project leader. if we write actual role description of our company as project manager, coordinator, leader.....chances are there that case will be rejected. so better not to have the designation description. i read this on forums.

I'm planning to apply under NOC 2174 as well. Here's my job description from my employment letter:

- Analyzing existing applications
- Designing Software
- Coding & testing application programs for e-Commerce & other Internet applications
- Documenting changes/requirements
- Implementation and post-implementation support

Please let me know if this is OK.

Refer to the checklist to learn what is required to be present in the Reference letter. 'Position held' is an important component. The letter will need to specifiy your Role - Technology Consultant / Technology Business Analyst / Systems Analyst ? And then the Duties and Responsibilities to follow.

Thanks, Andy. one of my friend applied without role in his employer letter last year. Got PR in 8 months. So, I got confused. I think these CIC rules varies officer by officer based on our luck. Of course, we should do all right as you said. I am still waiting for my India PCC otherwise I would have sent my application 2 weeks ago. Applied at CGI, Toronto last month for PCC. Donno how long I should wait.

No one is saying it is impossible - it's just not advisable. Why take a chance over something that you can easily provide?
