Hi there,

I need assistance to understand my eligibility for CEC.

I am on PGWP. I had worked for 9 months full-time Contract job which did not extend and after 4 months of gap found a Permanent full-time job.
So after completing 3 months at a new job will I be eligible for CEC?
I am confused whether Contract jobs are considered under CEC eligibility or not?
What is are the options for filing PR in this situation?

Hi, as far as I know, a contract job is counted towards you work experience as long as it is fulltime and paid. As for the 12 months experience, it doesn't need to be continuous for CEC applicants.

Thanks. Good to know that. I had full time and paid job just less than a year duration as mentioned earlier.

Also got confused as per this FAQ which mentions: "Job offer from one employer for the FSW or CEC"
Can you please share insights about this?

Hi there, I had contract part-time job and then full-time job in Canada. All these hours were calculated toward my work experience under CEC and I got my PR. As long as you have at least 12 months of full-time work (or an equal amount in part-time wor) and 1560 hours, you are fine. I hope this helps.

The link that you've shared is for a "valid job offer". I believe it refers to job offers that are supported by LMIA and are usually for those who are on closed work permit. If you are on an open work permit, that is not necessary unless you a "valid job offer" documents.
