Hey everyone,

I am currently on PGWP and mine expires on June 2019. I recently finished a 4 months full time internship at a post secondary institution. Although my job is styled as internship, my job responsibilities are really just as similar to entry-level role people in this field (which is classified under NOC B). Following the end of my internship (last week), I was offered to work for 6 months (contract) with another office within the same university. This time, it's an actual entry-level role. If I successfully finish this contract, I will have about 10 months of experience in skilled work and therefore, should only require 2 more months of work to qualify for EE under CEC. Well, at least that's what I thought. Am I right?

My next question then, will having a contract based work conflict with my application for permanent residency? In my field, it's usual that entry-level people work on full time contracts (that sometimes get renewed over and over again) for 4-5 years before they actually land on a permanent position. I haven't accepted my contract offer yet because I'm worried about this.

(That being said, my degree is in a completely different field, I was in STEM and I found it very difficult to find a job in STEM with just a bachelor so I switched out and went to work in my other interest (higher education). I am also actually pretty good with tech though I don't like it as much (my degree was in biology lol) but I have been offered a tech support position before (the offer is still valid today). That's a permanent position and I have been thinking that I should just sacrifice a year (or 8 months) just to do this tech support thing to score PR first before actually going back to my interest in biology or even higher education.)

As long as it is not self-employed, it should be fine. Just make it sure that you receive a good reference letters showing your duties clearly matching with the NOC description and keep the evidences showing you worked full-time.
I also assumed you did your internship based on PGWP. You can't count internship experience while studying.
