You need to print the letter they send you and take it with you to the appointment, so you can't do it in advance. There are plenty of appointments available though. You should be able to complete it the same week you get the request.

What is this "RCMP Criminal Record check request".. i havent heard about it anywhere and i did not receive any such letter.. Does everyone need to get it done?

RIght now, I am in India due to family medical emergency, any ideas if India VACs are taking biometrics here?
I see BIL says, biometrics can be given outside Canada, but VFS website says, biometric is currently happening for student permits and family class (is this spouse sponsorship PR only?)

Hi, not everyone requires a Criminal Record Check from RCMP. As far as I know sometimes name based checks are not enough for some applicants so IRCC requests fingerprints based record check https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-i...six-months-stay-in-canada.610773/post-7743849

Hey Surya,
I received BIL on 29th Dec and gave fingerprints on 30th Dec. Biometrics reference number and expiry date are reflected on my profile but the status of the application still reads "your Action is required" and on the profile under Biometrics section it reads "We need your fingerprints to process your application ...."
Is it the same with you?

My Biometrics was updated on the same day I gave my biometrics and it was marked as completed on 6th Jan
Interesting!! My status hasnt changed its been 2 weeks since i gave my biometrics.
Anyhow thank you.. Please keep us posted about any further updates.
