CEC and dependant issues

Hi there,

First of all, thank you so much for this wonderful forum!\

in 2010, My boyfriend and I came to study in University of Alberta for one year MA program with Teaching Assistant-ship offer . After completing our masters program I decided to return to Bangladesh (my country) and he decided to stay back to explore the job field. We both got one year PGWP after masters. Now, he is working in Alberta (extended his work permit for about 2 more years with LMO) and I'm in Bangladesh. We are getting married in August, 2013 and after that he is planning to apply for PR under CEC. That means , as a spouse I'll be his dependent.

His work permit will expire in next year, August. As it takes minimum 14 months under CEC for PR and PR should be on process by that time yet not issued, does that mean he'll have to come back in his country?

- Can he wait for his PR under CEC from Bangladesh?

- What about dependent visa processing time? Is it same as principal applicant's processing time?

- Can I get visa as soon as my husband get his PR? I mean, suppose if he gets visa in November, 2014- is there any chance that I can join with him in December, 2014 ?

Thanks in advance :)

1. Yes - he can wait from Bangladesh.
2. The processing times are the same.
3. You will receive your PR visas at the same time.

Thank you so much! does it really take 14 months? How about in Alberta?
yes, due to the strike it may take upto 14 months in CEC.

Now a days when you apply through provincial Nominiee ...through...ANIP its bit faster then CEC..

You will get the ANIP approved with in 30 Days... My friend got approved in 10 Days..

Once approved you need to send the Approval Letter with the reset of docs to CIC

Here is the link for ANIP: http://www.albertacanada.com/immigration/immigrating/ainp.aspx

Hey,

I went through the same situation as you will be in coming days....I am from Bangladesh and currently waiting for my PP sent to Ottawa for Visa issuance...you can connect with me so that i can share my experiences which might help you...btw your friend do not need to come back to Bangladesh as soon as his PGWP expires if he can manage to apply before his WP expires...Good Luck!!!!

Thanks for the link. However, I'm a little bit confused about AINP stream and categories. We have graduated in Economics and working in the research field. My fiance has one year full time job experience in Canada. I think AINP requires two years of professional job experience. Any suggestion?

Actually his PGWP expired in last December, 2012 as we both graduated in 2011 and got one year of PGWP . Right now, he is working with a closed work permit (after applying for a new work permit with LMO letter) and it'll expire in 2014 August, that is about 13 months as of now. If he doesn't get PR by then, we need to keep other options open (e.g. student visa ).

He is planning to apply in this september/october after we get married so that I can also apply as a dependent. As his work permit will expire in August , 2014 and PR processing under CEC takes 14 months - does that mean that we are already late in applying ?

Thank you so much for your help.

ANIP says: If you are an international graduate....received a PGWP/or positive LMO .......then if you are offerred a full time job ......Then after 6 months of full time job you are eligible to apply under ANIP.

You dont even need IELTS.... the application is very simple.....

Ask your fiance to contact his employer and show them the documents and application checklist.

I am sure they will support his application, as he already applied for LMO from them.

Btw, there is no application fee for ANIP, and you can file both ANIP & CEC together at the same time.

Good Luck.....

I din get it...you mentioned that your husband already gained one year of full-time work experience rite?? if yes then why din he applied yet for PR under CEC program?? rather he applied for LMO instead as you have also mentioned...hhmmm... in my understanding you/your husband should apply asap under CEC program so that you can at least receive MER or RPRF request until his current WP expires.....if you are in BD you can connect with me through emails and phones so that i can give you a better idea about what me and my wife went through in the last 1and a half years...Chao
