Hello, for 17 years, I have been working in glass cutting or installing glass repairs in Afghanistan, but due to the current situation in Afghanistan, I am unemployed. I want to apply for asylum in Canada.

To apply for asylum, you need to have a visitor visa. When you land it Canada, you declare asylum at the airport. To get a visitor visa, you need to show funds to come to Canada, travel history and ties to return.

It will likely be very difficult to get a TRV give that you are from Afghanistan and unemployed especially if you have never travelled internationally to places like US, UK, Australia, etc. before. Certainly worth trying. If you do manage to get a TRV and come to Canada and are accepted as a protected person your spouse and children (under 22 and unmarried) will not be able to join you in Canada for 3.5 years but typically much longer. Something to consider. The cost of living is very high in Canada so the ability to save money to send abroad while support yourself in Canada is difficult.
