These are available almost everywhere in Canada:

- Allstate Insurance Company of Canada
- Aviva Canada
- Canadian Automobile Association (CAA)
- Desjardins Group
- Dominion of Canada General Insurance Company
- Belair Insurance Company Inc. (belairdirect)
- RBC Insurance
- State Farm
- TD Meloche Monnex (part of TD Canada Trust bank)
- The Personal Insurance Company
- The Economical Insurance Group
- The Co-operators

There may be more locally available for Toronto. Get a quote first from available online insurance dealer who give you a summary of different insurance providers (i.e. http://www.kanetix.ca/toronto-car-insurance-on). Then, go forward.

2. what is the coverage
I did not get what you're looking for. An auto insurance/coverage is a contract that you have with an insurance company in which you agree to pay a premium (weekly/monthly/yearly), and in the event of an accident, the company agrees to pay for your covered damages, as outlined in your specific insurance auto policy. If you asked about "types of coverage", there are mainly 3 types:

Liability: This coverage protects you in case you are at fault for an accident. You could be liable not only for damages to the other car but for medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering for anyone injured.
Collision: This coverage pays for repairs to your vehicle, or for the replacement of its market value if it's totaled when you collide with another car or hit something — regardless of who is at fault.
Comprehensive: This coverage pays for repairs or the replacement of your car if it is stolen or damaged in a fire, flood or high winds (causes that are not man-made rather resulted by God)

In Ontario, you must have a liability coverage. You can mix one with the other and get a coverage according to your needs. A full coverage would involve all of the above, normally taken in case of leased/expensive/commercial/newer vehicles. Different insurance companies may have more sub-categories.
