Hi I am here on a TFW work permit and I have applied for PR. Does anyone know if you can get finance on a vechicle before I get my PR? I have a fulltime job with good earnings. I just thought I'd post the topic before I try to apply for finance somewhere. I do have my boss as a possible co-signer, Would this make a difference or help in any way?? I am in Vancouver by the way, So if anyone knows of any finance companies that will provide a loan to a TFW for a car please let me know.

Not sure but I had one hell of a job getting a Credit Card.

With your boss as co signer, I believe that would make a huge difference.

It took me 3 years banking with the same bank and becoming a PR before they gave me a 2000 limit Credit Card.
 
Wow that's a long time! My bank told me about a secured credit card so I know I can get that if I need one, But they told me I had pretty much no chance of getting one before I had my PR. I just assumed it would be the same for the car finance, But I was hoping someone on here may have had similar experiences and could give some advice. My boss was more than willing to co sign for me but he didn't want to go through the whole application process if there's no point.
 
You can get a car financed but only with a pirvate company. My boyfriend was only able to sign a lease with an astronomical % something like 13% or something insane :(
 
I got a car loan and a line of credit no problems...

Just have to show earrnings

Thanks for your replies guys. Where did you get your loan and line of credit? My employer said he will co sign for me but I have not got a reply from any finance company I tried online. Really appreciate any advice guy's!
