cant remember or retrieve job info

Ive made a topic on this before but i need more help. In sponsorship questionaire...job employment since you were 18 years old. I said before that Ive had so many jobs..many which were for short periods. And I cant remember what day i started and what day was the last day, for many of the jobs. People advised me to do the best I can and call former employers, look through pay stubs to get that information. I found out many of the jobs are not out of business and/or former employers are not there anymore.

What should I do???? I also dont remember a lot of the jobs since I jumped around from job to job quite a bit...
Will this look bad and effect me negatively in any way for the sponsorship?

Hey there, what I'd do is to put something like:
Period DD/MM/YYYY to whatever: Various odd jobs* (with an asterisk or something)
Then explain (on separate sheet) that you had several jobs during that period but have no records of start and end dates, but give as many details as you can, such as the kind of place it was, if possible name of business, anything you can remember. And that's the best you can do.

So i should make a note saying i dont remember it all? And second part to my question, should i explain what i was doing in my life, in the periods i was unemployed?

Just fill out as much of the information you can, then explain you don't remember the rest and can't find the info anywhere else.
It shouldn't hurt your sponsorship chances. The VO would be concerned if you had no jobs, but moving from job to job is quite common, especially for younger people.
I would also explain what I was doing during periods where I had no job - it won't hurt, at least.

I put in approximate month and year and because I had to go back 30 years ago, which is crazy (how could anybody remember it all) and then on the attachment(boxes provided were not sufficient, had too many jobs) I put in this statement " answered as honestly and to my best knowledge" as someone suggested to do

My husband (an American) is in the same boat as you. He is 36 now and has held numerous jobs since the age of 18. Thanks to a Google search i came across the Social Security Adminstration website that will actually provide you with a report of every job you have had and the dates you worked there.
It does cost money but its well worth it, especially because the SSA will certify the document so its 100% legit. (total cost - about $65 plus $15 to fedx it to them)

If you are an American let me know and i can find the website for you. If you arent an American i would suggest visiting the website of the social security adminstration of the country you live in, im pretty sure our governments have a record of this somewhere. Some employers ask for complete a complete job history...and like the comments above, how can we be expected to remember all of them and the dates...

We did have to pay for this document and it does take approx 10 weeks to complete but its worth the wait and the money to ensure its done properly - especially since this section strictly asks you to make sure you do not leave any gaps in time.

I am actually residing in Canada so like you said I will take a look to see if there is something like what you mentioned. And I think the "dont leave gaps in time" that you're thinking of is the principal applicant section. The part I am worried about is for me, the sponsor. It says 'list all employment for past 5 years' but it doesnt say dont leave gaps in time so I dont think that part matters for the sponsor.

do they do strict background checks in the sponsor's employment history? This part is so frustrating because I honestly cant do anything in my power to get this information and I went from job to job a little too much within this 5 years. My application is all finished and ready to sent and this section is the part thats holding us back

My husband/sponsor bounced around some in the 5-year period too. He filled in the major jobs and explained separately that sometimes he took on short-term reno projects, (lasting 2-8 weeks sometimes) in between the times he worked on major projects. It did not negatively affect his eligibility as a sponsor, he was approved.

I think I will do what you and others have advised me and write an explanation. I guess the real important thing is if you can support the spouse.
