Can't see why. Just say a personal situation has come up and if it's possible to push back the date for landing a bit. If they say no or give you a hard time, just say you'll go on already appointed date.

I don't think is possible. But maybe different visa offices use different policies. We are US outland applicants.

These are the two parts about interview schedule in the email we received from CIC regarding interview request.

"The date and time of your interview appointment as indicated above is the earliest available and it will be the ONLY opportunity granted for you to attend an interview at this office. We will NOT entertain rescheduling request. If you are unable to attend the scheduled interview, a decision will be made on your application based on the information available. This could result in the refusal of your application."

"If you are residing outside of the United States, it is your responsibility to obtain legal entry to the U.S.A. in order to attend the scheduled interview. We cannot intercede should the U.S. authorities refuse your visa application to the United States. If you are residing in Canada, it is not possible to provide any assurance of re-admission to Canada following your interview."

That is for a VO interview. The interview in question in this thread, is for an inland landing interview (so PR is basically already approved).

But I can see the same kind of conditions in place. Since applicant should be in Canada, there is no good reason I can think of to delay a landing interview, and CIC may think the same thing. But again... can always simply call and ask.

The problem is that there is no number anywhere. When I call CIC they tell me that my file is with the Vancouver office now and they can only see my status, they have nothing to do with the interview. The Vancouver office only provides a fax number and street address and they say to fax or write if you can't come explaining the situation.

I would fax them a request to postpone. But be prepared they will say no and you will need to go on the original date.

You really shouldn't be travelling anyways at this point, as it's only adding more risk into you getting PR status.

Most probably they discourage direct phone call. Will there be any future evidence to track your fax letter in case you send fax? I don't how that works with fax letter.

Hi,

I applied for PR sponsored by my spouse from within Canada. I know my case was approved and just got my letter stating that I have to come on July 22nd but I will be out of the country. My sister is expecting a baby and asked me to be there and we also want to go baptise our baby with my family in Belgium. I could cancel the trip if I have no other choice but it would break my heart not to be there for my sister and I really want my family to finally meet the baby.

Does anyone have any experience with this? It says to write if I can't make it but I want to know how big of a deal that would be. I did my medical in January so that won't expire any time soon.

I have left the country a number of times since getting my work permit (valid till January 2015) and never had a problem. They were all weekend trips and one longer trip for a wedding.

Thank you!
It will be heartbreaking to cancel your trip,
but I don't think that Immigration will accept your reasons as valid.

If you don't go to your interview .... will be very bad for you....
That is all what I can say....

everybody have to put their life on hold, that's part of the price
