I applied to extend my stay because I was planning to get married to my partner.. but things just went extremely downhill,
and I decided that I'm going to go home next month or so.. should I cancel the applcation now or should o wait until I go back home?
I don't know if I am allowed to stay here until I can leave or if I have to go home right now

I hope someone can help me

No need to do anything just let the visitor extension take its course and leave when ready given whilst you have an application in you are on implied status pending a decision.

Even if you leave before the extension is approved and the approval comes through after you have left it gets cancelled automatically given you will have left the country as extensions are only valid whilst in the country.

Whether you are still with partner or not is really that relevant for a visitor extension so simply let the process take its course.

Okay, Well the reasoning I put was to get married and apply so I could stay permanently, which is why I thought I should cancel it so they don't waste their time ;/

Others can comment but I suspect by the time any communication gets through the process you would have already received approval anyway. That is assuming that is they accept your reasoning for an extension which is not a given especially as you were implying living in the country for a while,

Your decision but I would just let it take its course, would be different if were a PR application as opposed to a visitor extension which is no different really to going to the border and getting a revised visitor entry as a tourist.

As for wasting IRCC time there are hundreds of people ahead of you every day that do that.

As said your decision so take whatever action you feel comfortable with, not sure even if you do try to withdraw the extension application they even confirm it has been withdrawn leaving your status a bit vague on when you should leave.

Just think of it same as arriving and getting 6 months default stay but you decide to leave early , you do not need to tell anyone you are leaving ahead of the time you were allowed for entry even if the reason you gave at entry changed.

Yea, that makes sense
Well thank you so much!
If I for some reason were to apply to extend my stay in the future, here in Canada, do I say I applied before but went home before a decision was made?
Just curious really
