Canadian work experience 1560 - between two jobs.

2 PART question about Canadian work experience.


1.

I have been working two different jobs with fluctuating hours, both under the same NOC code (5225) I am a Video editor working for CBC and CTV

I have done over 1560 hours in 2016 between the two but does this count?

When listing the two different jobs in my profile you have to give hours per week. My hours are different every week. I would average 25 at one and 10 at the other.

I listed this and it did not give me my Canadian experience. Even though it totals 35 hours a week.

If I was to just take one of the jobs (CTV the one I worked at more) I would have done 1560 over 2015 and 2016. BUT it wasn't 30 hours a week. When entering my Canadian work experience in my profile I have to say I worked 30 hours a week for it to count. Is that fraudulent and misrepresented? There appears to be no other option.


I did search for this in the previously asked questions but couldn't find anything.

It should count, as long as it was not freelance/self-employment or done while on a a study permit.

When you combine 2 part-time jobs for more than 30 hours per week, it is supposed to be counted as "full-time" (meaning, you cannot count more than 30 hours per week, if you're adding up hours.) You haven't stated how many weeks you worked...

I am not certain what is going "wrong" with your profile, but the rules are clear, you can count part-time work experience. Are you saying you have submitted the profile both ways, and your profile is rejected if you put in the part-time hours (or do you also have foreign work experience, and just the Canadian work experience points are not being awarded)?

I am a casual employee. I am on the payroll and registered with an open ended contract, This is how most work in the TV industry works, would that be a problem?

I understand. Your experience should count. But without submitting a profile myself, I cannot test to see what might have gone wrong.

This *sounds* like a system flaw, but I have seen others qualify using part-time work experience, so I'm not sure what to say.

Well, it isn't needed. If you list 20 hours per week (or any number less than 30), that is part-time. Anything 30 or more hours per week is full-time.

No, this should not be a problem.

I am here on a 2 year IEC (international experience Canada) working holiday visa, from Australia.


I guess my main concern is; how to enter my Canadian work experience into my profile and have the points count. I have already received an ITA but am now worried that I have misrepresented myself by listing 30 hours a week.

Ah geez... Normally I would recommend declining the ITA, correcting the profile, and waiting for another ITA. But this won't help you unless you find out how to fix your profile so that you can represent your experience correctly and receive the correct points.

Generally, calling the CIC Help Line is time consuming at best, but - have you tried calling? Have you submitting a request for technical support? I would do everything possible to resolve this apparent bug before submitting an application based on a fudged profile.
