My name is Marife and I live and work in Manila. I want to apply for a 3 week tourist visa to visit a friend who lives in Canada. Here are facts about me:

-I am a 35 year old single female
-own a condo
-have all my family living in the Philippines
-have a bachelor's degree
-have a decent job as an industrial engineer at a major hospital
-have worked in my field for 15 years and have been on the present job for 5 years
-have a letter from my employer saying that I was granted a 3 week vacation
-have money in the bank around $6,000 USD
-have traveled outside the Philippines on trips in the past
-all my family live in the Philippines

I have a letter from my friend inviting me to stay with her so I will have no costs for housing.

Do you think I am eligible for a visitor visa? Is there a certain amount of money I need in the bank? What else should I do before I apply? How much money do I need in the bank?

Thank you all for any help you can give me!

How many more ties to my home country can I show?

My trip will cost about $1,500 for the flight, and I figure I need some money when I am there so around another $1,000. The application asks "funds available for stay". What is this asking? How much the trip will cost or how much I need for the trip?

So, do I need to have more than $6,000 in my bank account considering these costs? What do they look at how much I have in the bank or my income?

Thank you!
