My husband and i are planning on sending our application in soon.

I'm not sure if I read wrong previously, but I'm wondering, once our application is sent and is in process, would it be okay if he comes visits me here in the states for thanksgiving??

I'm not sure but I remember reading somewhere that the Sponsor can't leave the country while the application is in process...please tell me I'm wrong...

From what I've heard around here, it's ok to take a vacation while sponsoring someone.

The sponsor can leave Canada while the application is in progress. What you may be thinking of is that, if the sponsor is a permanent resident, they can't move out of Canada while the application's in process.

I have the same case. we applied outland spousal sponsership
my spouse is canadian and I am from US
and my spouse came to meet me several times after our wedding.
Its not gonna affect the application
so tell your spouse to see you and tell the border authorities the truth that he is going to visit his spouse.(there is nothing to hide from them), if going by plane then they usually do not ask much questions but if travelling by road then they ask little in detail but no need to be nervous coz when you are nervous that time borderguard catches you.

But if you are applying inland then you have to be with your spouse and you can not go outside the canada till you get pr (as i read a post in this forum from some other person)

BTW are you applying inland or outland
in my opinion outland is better and fast
as you are american and your spouse is canadian you or your spouse can easily visit each other anytime

good luck with your application

That's a good question...do they??

We are going to file outland hopefully by next month. It feels so overwhelming putting the application together but I can imagine how nice it must feel once it's completed and sent out. =)

I have another question...does anyone here have any experience with channelers??

i guess not.
when my spouse crossed the border they asked "what is your intent" and in return replied "visiting family"
(for the first time) border guard asked "what kind of family" though my spouse answered all his questions . its better that your husband tell them himself that he is visiting his wife and has sponsered her for canadian pr which is in process which makes a little easy for them to say and even happy that one person is going out..lol
well. I am not sure that while scanning passport anybody can know but its US and Canada.. as they share their information so may be they could have shared this info as well. and someone told me that show them your receipt number that you indeed are sponsering your wife/husband. (you never know what they can ask you next to show as a proof)..receipt number or aor letter whatever comes in first.
its like show them we are a genuine person and law abiding citizen and will not make illegal activity. just to be on safer side. have all supporting documents like rental agreement, bank account everything to show you will be back to your country(as you say you want to visit canada in christmas) and will be permanently moving to canada when you have pr

just remember say truth as you and your spouse dont want to be in a problem ahead

It seems like it--Ive onyl heard of a few trying it but no one has hear anything back yet.

simb, of course, I've always been blunt while crossing the border, just as soon as you are married it raises red flags but I figured if we have receits it should be fine. He will be crossing the border back with me after he visits me this thanksgiving so it will make me feel better. We've been questioned before but by U.S. customs---they mostly questioned him and his intent though, thinking he may be a potential new immigrant. I think U.S. customs are more intimidating than Quebec ones...
