No there will be a new system for family reunification: from McCallum's speech at Chandigarh. So as to speed up process of spouses PR. But not sure whether they add siblings in it.

John Mccallum was saying a lot about additional points for siblings and it was in liberal prime minister letter as well. They only changed points for students because of extreme push.
I dont see nearby hope for siblings in nearby future. I think there are not many people in the pool with siblings. If they award some 50-100 points that would be terrific

Siblings are very less in the pool and it won't make any difference to fsw or other categories, whatever points they are allocated. The govt. would try to bring maximum of siblings through EE, and the deciding factor would be the point allocation. If they are able to bring almost all the siblings by allocating 10 points, then they will allocate 10 points and if they require more points to achieve their goal to bring in the siblings they might even give 200 points or more just to neutralize the LMIA candidates. The siblings may be the most of the probable candidates (after CEC and international students) to get LMIA and if they get less than 200 points they may start trying to get LMIA and qualify, which can certainly backfire the liberal announcement. It's not so easy to dismiss the promise, which can backfire in the parliament discussions and future election promises.

So it might the be the case for French also. The fact that only 1% of the candidates in the Express Entry pool have French, they will do everything to bring them in.

For 25% having Canadian education: 30 max points

Only 1% with French: ? max points

Any speculation? Not good at maths ;)

They have points for French speakers. You don't have to speak English to immigrate to Canada. You get points for being bilingual.

the best analysis should be as: no. of international students x 30 = no. of siblings x points = no. of francophone x points (not exceeding 600) :p

That's what I thought before the announcement and that points would be 150 for each 4 reform (including LMIA) like this:

150x4=600

All with 150 equal score.

Meaning 570 points remaining to be offered (600-30 for students) ;)

You already get points for speaking French.

You have to have some skills like work experience or education to be a skilled immigrant.

Giving huge points to siblings implies that you can move to Canada without contributing to the economy.

The only way they are going to indirectly give points to French speakers is if they increase the points given for a second language as they cannot imply that they value French over English. Get over this.

For instance, the international students are 10 time the french speakers, then they should be given 30x10 = 300 points, and if 30 times more, than 30x30 = 900 (but the slab is 600 at most) so 30x30 = 600. Additional point should also not exceed 600, which means if an international student is sibling and francophone, then he / she can not accumulate all the points, which could be more than 600. For instance, if a candidate is sibling, student, french speaker and gets pnp then his additional score would be 600+300 +300+30 = 1230, but the slab is 600 maximum, so the candidate will be given only 600. Cheers to all siblings and francophone. :p

How can you say that siblings won't contribute in the society. They all are in the pool and that means they would have qualified to obtain PR before express entry system, which also means that all the siblings who moved to canada before EE were burden to the society.

Siblings will not be included.

When the term "family reunification" is used, this refers to spousal/common law partner and parent/grandparent sponsorship.

Moreover the success rate of a sibling to obtain citizenship would be much higher than normal fsws, because many fsws return back to their home countries (about 30%).

Because high points implies that their skills could be 300's pre sibling points. If they get 600 points they will get an ITA. That means they are low skilled which increases the possibility that they won't contribute to society.

As per the election agenda, the sibling has been included in the family reunification. Presently, there are already established streams for both spouse and parents / grandparents. If the minister is saying to create new stream, may mean change in family reunification stream and could include siblings in that.
