Hi guys,

we are expecting an ITA very soon, and was wondering: My wife is the primary applicant, and her aunt and cousins are Canadian citizens and live in Canada.

Since we are not claiming any points, and mentioning them would result in more paperwork being needed, would it be OK to just not mention them, or would it count as misrepresentation?

Thank you.
MF

Hi MF,

I don't know what your CRS looks like, but it might be smart to boost your score a few points by adding relatives. For immigration purposes, cousins do not count as relatives, but aunts and uncles do. It is more paperwork, time, effort and money, but it's also more points and therefore higher chances of a faster ITA.

I believe you still need to disclose the family bond, but only provide the documents if you're claiming points for adaptability.

Good luck,

Serge

Hi friends,

Is there any point in the CRS Calculator if u have a relative in Canada? from my understanding specific provinces will give u points if you can prove your ties with relatives such as OINP program. Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks

CRS calculator do not posses parameter for "relatives in Canada". However there are sections in the federal application forms asking details about relatives & their details in Canada if any. Also, some provinces allocate points for having relatives in Canada for PNP applicants.

Hi Guys,

We actually have 491 points, so I do not need to claim any points for relatives. Actually, I don't think it's possible to claim points for relatives anyway.

So my question, again, is: Can I not mention any Canadian relatives? Just to make things less complicated.

Thanks,
M
