Dear Qorax,

I came to Canada on ICT(Inter company transfer) visa , but my total stay duration is less than 12 months and my project has got over and still 1.5 months is remaining for the 12 month period after which I could have applied for PR. I will have to return back to India , I wanted to know if there is any other way through which I could stay in Canada and work and apply for PR even if I have to leave my present employer. I work as a software developer. Thanks and waiting for your prompt reply

Best Regards,
Vish

Your best bet is to ask your employer for a LMO for a new position in Canada.

Which province are you in?

Thanks for the reply, I am currently in Toronto. My employer won't get me an LMO filled . Could something be done through other provinces as I heard that there are some provinces where the rules are bit relaxed than Toronto .

If your employer won't file an LMO and you can't get another qualifying position for ICT, then you will need a work permit to stay in Canada.
Either that or flagpole in as a visitor and look for a job.

Even if you want to go with PNP, you will still need a job (PNP I believe negates the need for an LMO, but you still need to get the job in the first place).
Just because your current employer won't consider you for an LMO, it doesn't mean that other employers out there won't employ you and file for an LMO.

Take the opportunity now to do lots of phoning / networking etc whilst you are still in Canada and can attend interviews.

Wayne.
