Hello,
I am UK citizen and am thinking of moving to Canada. I am going to start the process for "Express of Interest" for Express entry soon and then hope to apply for PR once I get the invite to apply (based on my luck and CRS score).

I have following questions

1. After I get "Invite to Apply" and I'll apply for the PR. Once my PR is approved and I move to Canada, how soon my mum, who is Indian resident, can apply for her Super visa to visit Canada?
2. After getting PR, how long do I have to live/work in Canada to be eligible to invite my mum to Canada through Super visa route route? I believe I'll have to work in Canada for sometime to show evidence of earning?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

1. As soon as you can show you meet the income requirement.

2. There is no minimum time you must be working.

Just wanted to clarify that she still be a visitor and a supervisa won't allow your mum to move to Canada.

Thanks for the comments. That's right I believe she can visit Canada for upto 2 years in one go?

Another question:
Given that Canada allows dual citizenship, while I am in UK working in a full time job and I get Canadian PR, can I start the application process for super visa of my mum based on my income in UK?

I am exploring the option to move to Canada (once I get PR) only after my mum's super visa is granted.

2 years is not guaranteed. Many don't get that long.

No. You need to be living and working in Canada.

Thanks for starting this thread, I am in the exact same boat. I hope you get through whatever you have planned. I am having to go through the same process and the idea is, as soon as I get ITA, I will look to apply as many places as I can and secure a job. Once I am able to move with my family from the UK, I'll put up my Mom's file in the hope she gets through for 2 yrs of Supervisa. Correct me, seniors, if I am correct in thinking, one can only apply for parent's PR post your citizenship is complete and you have stayed for 4 yrs.

No - that's not how parent sponsorship for PR works. You're confusing Canada with the US.

Canada has requirements around income before you can qualify to sponsor your parents (you must meet the minimum income requirements for three years in a row based on income earned in Canada). Additionally, there's a cap on how many applications are accepted each year. Once you qualify to apply, you have to enter a lottery and then hope you are selected.

Thanks for the clarity, really appreciate it. I understand now, in that case, please can you clarify, can the supervisa be extended every so often or are there any restrictions. Like here in the UK, parents have to leave the country for good amount of time (approx 2-4 months before they can return back to UK on family visitor visa). So say for example, supervisa is granted for 1 yr, on nearing the completion, will the grandparent leave Canada for 2-4 months or they can return earlier?

There's no black and while answer. You can try extending but it's up to IRCC if the extension is approved. It's also up to IRCC how long your parent is allowed into Canada when they arrive (just because a super visa has been approved for x number of years doesn't mean that's how long your parent will be allowed into Canada). Generally speaking, if someone has spent a full year in Canada we recommend they wait 6-8 months before they return.

Cheers for your prompt responses. I feel it is going to be a long wait :)

Hello,
Hope you got through this one... Am having similar question.. Can you please share your experience ? Is it safe to apply Parents' Super Visa after 3 months of becoming PR, provided we meet the minimum funds requirements.

Thanks in advance !

You are unlikely to have earned the LICO amount in 3 months. Canada also wants to make sure parents are not moving to live with their children and they are just visiting and have their home to return to. Most supervisa applications are getting refused if you don’t have an NOA showing that you have earned the LICO amount. It isn’t about salary it is about money earned while living and working in Canada.
