Hello Forum members,

My husband and I are presently on F-1 student status (visas have expired but we're still in legitimate student status) in a U.S university. However we just received our Canadian immigrant visas. We are planning to land in Windsor Ontario during the summer.

Is it possible to live in Windsor Ontario, and continue our studies in the nearest U.S university in Detroit Michigan, and still be able to maintain our Canadian pr.

We also plan to work in Detroit with H-1B visas after graduating from U.S university. We are both Nursing students
Please,we need ideas and suggestions. We have 3 children.

You can certainly do this from a Canadian PR perspective. I would recommend you also investigate if this is possible from a US immigration perspective.

You can verify through this US immigration forum:

I am in almost similar situation. Can anybody suggest me the feasibility of this plan?

This plan is perfectly fine. Things would be complicated if you move into applying green card of US. Keep H1B and F1, once you get Canadian citizenship, start the green card process. You can complete labor certification and I 140 application of US while waiting. If you are Indian/Chinese the PD (priority date) for I 485/green card is extremely long; so you can get Canadian citizenship while waiting for that. H1B + Canadian PR is perfectly fine, you can even have your car registered in the Canada. Just don't use US car anymore, sounds more trouble.
