Canadian PR and Citizenship of another country

I am a Canadian PR since March 2010. I entered Canada in March 2010 and since I had a job offer in Germany, I returned to Germany and have been there until now. The Germany Government is prepared to grant me the German citizenship.
Given my Canadian PR status, I will like to find out:

1. whether accepting the German Citizenship will have any implications on my PR status, considering that I am planning to move to Canada permanently in the future.

2. Whether I have to inform Canadian Immigration of my change of Nationality (taking the German Citizenship requires that I lose my original nationality (Gabon)).

I will highly appreciate your thoughts and advice on this.

Thanks

1. No, Canada doesn't care how many other nationalities and PR's you have as long as you keep your residency requirements of living in Canada for at least 730 days total in each 5 yr. period.

2. I don't think it is a common thing to happen so I don't know of a policy but I think you should inform them with a letter and a copy of your old and new passport.

Normally full disclosure is a good idea, but perhaps not in this case. After all, anyone who already has Canadian citizenship is not required to tell CIC or anyone else that he/she has acquired another passport. So -- the logic goes -- there is no need to tell Canada about acquiring a German passport simply because Canadia citizenship ha not yet been acquired.

Furthermore, if there is an application for Canadian citizenship in the works, muddying the waters might delay processing, while the processing officer seeks counsel from myriad middle and senior managers. Don't underestimate the desire to avoid responsibility by seeking approval from many before taking action.

He is not just acquiring another passport, he is losing his old one. Canada immigration will find out about his German citizenship at the latest when he arrives in Canada the next time with a German passport instead of the Gabon passport he use to have. Since they will find out anyway, he might as well be polite and inform them beforehand to avoid the question why he did not tell them.

PR Cards validity irrespective of Passport Expiration.

Hello Seniors,

I am reviewing my COPR's and have a question for seniors who have their PR's in hand. They have issued the COPR validity only for an year as my passports going to be expired in a year. I am planning to do landing formalities this April or May and would like to know if they give PR cards till COPR validity or for 5 year period. How that works, can some detail the PR cards processing with timelines.

Thanks in advance!
