I am in the process of completing my PR application with my sponsor through common-law, and we need to know if I have to attach a Canadian police clearance along with my Swedish one. Or will they take care of that?

If I do, it is not emphasized enough in the guide and applications (it says for all countries you've lived in for more than 6 months).

I wish it could say that a police certificate is needed for Canada also, or that it is not needed and CIC will take care of it.

If you're applying outland, you don't have to include it. They may ask for it later but your app won't be "incomplete" without it (i.e. they'll still get to work on it).

That said, it won't hurt your cause to include one if you can....if you're in Canada and can get fingerprints done digitally (at a fingerprinting agency), you'll get the RCMP check back in about a week.

It's stated very clearly in the general outland guide: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3999Etoc.asp
You and your family members who are 18 years of age and older and are not permanent residents or Canadian citizens must provide:
-valid police certificate, or
-police clearance, or
-record of no information.
These documents are to be provided for each country other than Canada, in which you have lived for six (6) consecutive months or longer since reaching the age of 18.

Thanks Rob!

I have been looking for it, must have overseen that part!
