i dont want fo freak you out. But there is possiblity they never call. Them transfering to local office doesnt mean local office has accepted. When I went in person, lady said if u wait for file to be accepted u might not get on time so do u want me to expedite that would be 20$ more and I was like, hell yes. I would not wait for them to call if it is only 2 days left.
Yes, the agent on the phone let me know that there was no guarantee. I'll go line up next week.

My 2 cents, folks who need passport urgently and can make a visit to local passport office should not wait on last minute file transfer to local office.

Passport office is only charging $20 pick up fees and waiving other expedited charges if it’s already over 25 business days and you have a valid travel itinerary.

This is so inconvenient but I guess there is no choice. I've heard that people line up at 6 am outside passport offices....

URGENT HELP PLEASE

I have a plane ticket for May 31. I applied for a passport for the first time on March 16th and haven't got anything but the card got charged around April 19th. called over the phone yesterday to request a transfer to local office (mine is Mississauga) and said to expect a call next week. I'm still debating if I should go on Tuesday to the office and do it in person or not?

please anyone who experienced file transfer over the phone. should I go to the office in person as well as phone requests maybe are not guaranteed or have faith and wait for the phone call from Mississauga?

I just got off the phone with an agent. She said that they call only a few days before travel. She said my files looked good and that I should expect a call on Tuesday for pickup on Thursday (leaving the Monday after that). Call them again to double-check but you should get a call a few days before your departure...hopefully.

Hi All, very frustrated with my Canadian passport application. It took 3 years to become a citizen due to covid and now the passport application is taking forever. Anyway here are my timelines:
  1. Application sent by mail from Toronto - March 30th, 2022
  2. Application received in Gatineau passport office - April 1st, 2022
  3. Credit Card charged - April 27th, 2022
No further updates and I'm still waiting. I tried calling several times and finally got connected to an agent after waiting for 3 hours and then the line gets disconnected. I'm supposed to travel next month but does not look like I'll make it.

I don't want to freak you out even further but I am flying on May 30th and have not received my passport either. I requested a transfer to my local office last week and have not had any call from them either. Apparently, most of us get it last minute (as in the day before your travel).
Requesting a transfer means that it will be urgently processed by your local office who will call you to verify you are truly travelling within ten business days and will tell you to come and pick it up.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate this. I will call as well and make sure we can get a transfer. Thanks for the help!

Received passport.

Application received at Gatineau: April 5
Passport received: May 17
it took exactly 6 weeks.

That was quick. Many who applied in March haven’t got theirs.

Can I go to the passport office to ask for the application to be transferred due to travel without calling the number first? Or do I have to call, have it transferred, and then go to the office

My timeline> Passport not received yet.

"Application sent March 30
Application received April 1
CC charged April 26"
Date put on travel date: May 25
Application filed as non emergency
Option chosen: 26 business days or more!

We have exactly the same timeline. But my cc was charged on the 27th :)

Did you receive everything at a US address? Do you know if there's a way to expedite processing if applied from the US?

Yes, I received everything at a US address. I couldn't find an expedite option beyond paying for expedited shipping from where I live to the passport office. Probably saved me a week.
