Canadian Passport - Mail-In Application Timelines

Hi Folks, today is the one month and 1 day since my wifes application was sent / received. Was expecting to receive something today but alas nothing. Then decided to call the Helpline - 135 callers ahead of me... So just cut the call and went for a nap...
Really hope I get the passport early next week... Good Luck to all of you and congratulations to who have been successful... Take Care...

That's pretty much over 20 business days. Try the passport inquiry form perhaps? By accounts here, they're pretty prompt. If nothing comes in on Monday, hope you get some tracking numbers at least.

True but at least they have plans on how to mitigate the backlog, which we rarely see here.

She said that the State Department is "going to have over 150 staff returning to 21 agencies across the country, and that will increase our capacity to process applications more quickly" and they "are looking at surging back to pre-pandemic staffing levels and additional staff for both government and contractor staff."

Why don't you send them a status request online?

Did send them web querie twice - just standard responses.

yes the CC was charged on 25 June. that was qucik and i thought i was one of the lucky ones...

Sorry where does 20 business days come from? Is it their standard processing time? 20 days from them receiving the application till you getting the passport or 20 days to charging the card/starting processing?

Yeah, I remember several months ago, the messaging actually was along the lines of “we’re only processing urgent applications; if your application is not urgent, we’ll accept it but won’t process it….” But then that was contradicted by people on this forum submitting their non-urgent applications and getting their passports in 2 weeks. (Lucky them back then!)

Just noticed that the "by appointment only" label is no longer there next to the passport offices on this page: https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/passport/map/map.asp

Guess they are taking in-person applications now?

UPDATE: Nevermind, this https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...s/coronavirus-covid19/passport/how-apply.html
still says you need to mail the application. Maybe they are planning for walk-ins if the COVID situation remains under-control.

Delivered via Xpresspost to K1A 0G3: June 21
CC charged today, July 7

I also submitted only 1 ID, my driver’s license.

Got back my citizenship certificate via Xpresspost crammed in my mailbox today (so much for "signature required"), plus a checklist of returned documents indicating my passport will be/has been delivered via courier. Hope to get that in the next few days then.
