This could be one of the reasons. They try to prioritize applications with travel dates that are within the next 25-5 business days is my guess, so the closer the date the more chances it is being processed.
I am fine if they say that on their website. But they fail to do so

I live near the border, so it could be 4 hrs by car.
If you drive to the US, I heard you don't even need a ticket. Just a written statement would suffice. I am not sure if they could transfer your file on time though. The passport itself could be issued the same day. The problem is the transfer time. Well, also, the extra fees if that's a concern to you

Hi guys, do we get any notification email once the passport and citizenship certificate is dispatched? Or do we need to keep checking the mailbox everyday? My card got charged Apr 6th and looking forward to the originals. Still not done yet, the OCI epic starts from now(Indian citizen)

yes you have to keep a watch. i would suggest calling them once in a while because there are many people whose applications are being delayed if they dont have travel date

Passport Canada is a black box - you don't know what is happening to your application until you get the passport back

Hey guys,

I am in a bit of a situation, I would appreciate it if anyone could help me.
Here is my timeline
Passport application sent - 24th Feb 2022 (Toronto to Gatineau, Quebec)
Passport Application Received - 28th Feb 2022
Credit Card Charge - 31st March 2022

I got a call a from the Service Canada office on Thursday, 7th of April which I, unfortunately, couldn't answer, they left me a voice mail asking me to call back on the same number (from 8:30 am to 4 pm) or the toll-free number (from 4 pm to 7 pm). I called back to the same number it went to voice mail so left them a voice mail. Called the toll free at 4 pm but the wait time was 550 something and I waited for about 2 hrs before it got cut. Called the toll-free number back the next day and waited for 4 and a half hours before the call got cut because they were done for the day. Called the agent today (11th April) and left them a voice mail, the toll-free wait time is 500 something.

Could someone please tell me what should I do next? Should I just wait for the agent to get back? or does anyone know the fastest wait to get hold of an agent through the toll-free number?
