Hi All
I am in Toronto, planning to go tomorrow Mon to the passport office to get my first-ever Canadian passport, already form, photo's is ready. I have to travel by this Sat and have a ticket. My question is what office in Toronto is better to go to for urgent processing and how early I should be there ? 7 am ? thanks

Question regarding, reference in the passport form, Can my spouse's maternal uncle(i.e brother of spouse's mother) be a referees. ?

guarantor yes but reference out side family member

I believe an aunt or uncle can be unless they live at the same address as the applicant.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...s/travel-documents-references-guarantors.html

"For example, if your aunt, uncle or cousin lives with you, they cannot be a reference."

That said that list is complicated and it is certainly easier for people to read that to mean "no close relatives" and not debate what close relative means exactly - and none that live at same address.

Ya, bit odd requirement here with grantor and references. Might get tricky for some people.

FYI, as noted by a few other people here, it takes forever to get a response if you request your passport processing status online. I had submitted an online request on October 26 and just received a response via email today, 1 week after already receiving the passport! Although you do have to hold when you call, at least the agents on the phone are able to provide a status update, so I recommend that anyone seeking a status update call instead of submitting a request online.

Hi All,

Sharing my experience about Passport application. Went to Mississauga Passport office on December 5th at 7:30 am. Stood in line for around 3 hours and everything was done by 11:00 am. I qualified for express service as I am travelling tomorrow. Picked up my passport today (December 7th). Make sure to take proof of travel if you are travelling within 10 days. The agents & security were really good.
