Passport Canada at 74 Victoria St Toronto.
Lined up before 5:50 for walk-in. I was the 12th person in line.
At 6:30, 29 people were in line.
They said they mail in 10 business days. I was going to get express pickup but the officer made me think it's not worth it because it's only 2-3 more days (worst case 6) but more convenient to receive at home. And said there's no reason to worry about any delays.

Windsor Ontario Passport office: Submitted the application on 26th May for my wife and son.
Mail out date to US 09-Jun-2022.
As I am US resident, they charged for US rates. I was asking if i can pick the passports but officer wanted everyone to come and pick the passports since its international crossing hence officer said she would mail out and she said it would be fedex hence it will be quick.

Received passport for my wife. I was expecting the mail early but not this early.
Will wait for this week to see if passport comes for my son. I was asked to fax copr for all of us to prove the family relationship for my son's application which i sent on same day but not sure if this is received and delay is due to it. Will see.

Lesson: Its wild varied processing times across offices. People are waiting too many hours standing in line and thousands are doing the same in big cities but still passport offices are not sharing the load. Very bad that they send passport without requesting to deliver in 3-5 days but they send passport for some early and for some very late even though they too have travel date mentioned.

I feel like the waiting issue here in most cases are for applications which have been submitted to Service Canada centres by walk in due to the lack of appointments and rules for Passport office ( immediate need to travel etc ) . It’s a complete gong show , I wonder when these 600 new employees will be ramped up and ready to work on this backlog

So meanwhile I got a follow up feedback from
the MPA office that Passport Canada proactively informed them about the completion of my file and being sent off to printing. Apparently I will be given a tracking number…..I was not aware that this will be sent by using tracking numbers. We will see….nevertheless quite positively surprised should indeed the involvement of MPA speed up the process.

So I missed the postman yesterday, but I was able to go to the Post office this morning and what was waiting for me: my Passport!
Huge thanks to the MPA office for their involvement.

Yes, this - I would have submitted by mail as travel pending wasn't that urgent, and we had seven weeks (not under our control because we were waiting for citizenship, which also took long). But then I understood from reading here that I would have been panicking the whole time about whether we'd get it in time.

So instead I waited another several weeks and took up place in the physical line, that would have been of use to others.

Delays through system are additive, and not in a simple linear way.

WEIRD

Most tortured by both Passport Canada & Canada post.

I was checking my mailbox several times every day, even though my wife thought I was going crazy to check it even at 2 am. since they said it was printed and mailed out on 19th May.

today 1st June i saw a card that said Avis Final, final notice, with my son Name, took it and expressed myself to Canada post which is less than 3 minute walk from my house (next block).

She gave me my son's passport and she doesn't speak English , but it's not her fault anyway, i showed her on my mobile in French that I need to get 3 passports, she took my son's envelope and checked the address on the computer and she dragged the cupboard and gave me my passport too.

My wife's passport was not there, for this address i have got all these that's what she said when i got aa person with Canada post delivery dress who translates and explains me, i could get my wife passport soon, so i am going to call the passport canada at 4 pm to check the status.

When I track the tracking number on the envelope, it shows ready for pick up on 20th May and a note with today's date final notice. So WEIRD .

I believe keeping in touch with Passport Canada is always the best option.

hi all,

I am planning to go walkin at Brampton/Mississauga for applying for three members (myself, spouse and our new born). Can anyone please advise if I need to take my spouse as well for walkin service for applying passport? (For Kid- I am aware I dont need to take him, but not sure about spouse). Please share your experience and/or inputs.

You can apply on behalf of your spouse with all the documents ready. A lady applied on behalf of her husband & children at Mississauga passport office.

I applied for my wife and my son. As @alex the king said, keep the family IDs.
My officer at Windsor Ontario passport office asked for all of our original COPRs to verify family relationship(with respect to my son's passport application). Officer was not accepting my marriage certificate or my son's birth certificate/current passport to verify the parents names. So better take copr for all of you too to avoid issues. I havent seen anyone talked about asking on it in other offices but its better take these too along with their provincial IDs or current passports. Take your ID too.
