Hi,

Call again and if your dates are very near , they will consider even if not very near but you need to get a visa for other country, they will do file transfer with some chanrge, in the same forum it was mentioned, they were charged 20 dollars for file transfer and got the passport quickly (need to pick up from the nearest passport office). for me they ask 45 dollars.
Thanks for the information...much appreciated. I just read through your post. So when they say file transfer to the local Passport Office what does that mean? Did you apply at Service Canada and now they want money to transfer to SC-Passport Office sooner than the expected time?

In my case since I live in North York and applied at the SC office in North York and the SC-Passport office is also there itself. Essentially it is the same building just different floors!

Regards,
Nitin

Service Canada North york would have sent your application to Gatineu. Now it has to be transferred back to North York Passport office (that different floor)

does any one know if we can apply the passport in the same province where we reside or we can apply in any other province in canada?
I heard that people are driving to different cities and provinces to apply.
As its federal, i dont think its restricted to your locallity.

Does that mean the central processing is at Gatineau for all Passports? Whatever it is sounds as the bottleneck for the process.

Anyways...still keeping my faith in SC and the government. Not sure how will I know if my application is being processed or not in due course.

It will get processed. Its just a matter of how long.

Seems even US residents will need to send it to Gatineau.

Hello,

What is the avg time to get a passport when applied in person at a Service Canada location (Not Passport Office)?

I am in a dilemma to apply at the nearest Service Canada or go to any Passport Office. Is there any difference? Which will process fast, for a normal application. (Not urgent/express/standard)

I mean by the pace IRCC is working. Will it take 2/3 months to get a passport with normal processing?

Thank you

I applied on 30th march at Service Canada location in person with 29 April mail out date. Nothing yet on 2 May 2022... :(

9 May still waiting, I sent lot of web forms asking status, no response there either! :(

For in person, can husband submit the application for both wife and kids or everyone has to stand in line?
