Hi all, This is my first post, please be gentle. ;D

I currently live in the UK but was born in Winnipeg MB. I was adopted by my british parents who had issues concieving at the time (42 years ago). I came back to the UK in 1971 with a canadian passport and at the age of 21 was given the option of dual nationality. I declined and kept my canadian passport but had to apply for the Right of Abode here. I've been granted indefinate leave here and have a right of abode cirtificate in my passport which allows me to work and reside here.

My question...Are there any potential issues i might have when traveling? I'm going to Hawaii in two weeks and understand i dont need an ESTA, is this correct.

Thanks very much.

Steve.

It sounds like you have PR in the UK and a Canadian passport. You shouldn't have any issues there.

However, one question, why would you not want dual citizenship?

Hi Leon.

Thanks for the reply. At 21 and not traveling out of the country, not alot of thought/attention was paid to it to be honest. I do regret it now though. Can i apply for it in the future?

You already have Canadian citizenship and I am sure having lived in the UK for decades, you can apply for citizenship there. Both countries allow dual. However, this is not an immigration forum for the UK so I doubt anybody here knows very much about how you go about applying for UK citizenship.
