The passport expiring is neither here nor there because he can't travel and he can get it renewed through the Polish consulate here. Being able to get PR status without a valid passport might prove to be a problem, IIRC.

I think you are dead on the money. We have ZERO personal experience with immigration. My family has been in Canada since before Canada was a country. Alex probably couldn't pull this off within the Polish community. They'd see through it in a second. And I can't think of anything that Alex has ever really given Sarah. I know what you are saying about the 4 years... but she is always buying him stuff, driving him places, arranging things... the guy has it made. And who knows if Sarah is the only girl he is seeing. They have only been dating 3 years now... will be 4 years when his passport expires. But they are in a power struggle... he wanted to get engaged after 3 months... she has been resisting. Finally he found someone to sign for a loan to buy a ring, because he was tired of waiting, and wants to move the game along. And now I am scouring immigration boards to try and understand where Sarah stands.

What kind of a future do you see your daughter with this guy? He look like a scam artist to me and this will only end up badly for your family both emotionally and monetary. Do the right thing and stop this nonsense, your daughter might hate you now but will thank you later!

I say, let her go to Poland with him. Or insist she should live with him here, it may help her see what real life is all about. If after living together for 1 year she’s still happy with the relationship than just maybe he’s not in it just for Canadian status. Personally I know a Polish guy who came to Canada when he was 20 or so, was without status and initially married just for status, however 25 years later he’s still married to the girl he married to legalize his status in Canada. Both of them are very successful, built a great business in Canada , they’re in a really good place. What was an arrangement became a love marriage. I personally know them both, and their daughter who’s your daughter’s age.
