Hi guys,
I've read some other threads and of course everyone has their particular circumstances. I'm no different, but I was hoping those who are halfway or mostly done the permanent resident application process can answer some questions. My questions are first and then my story below.
1. From the time you applied to sponsor your spouse, how long was it until you heard anything back, and what was it? A letter in the mail, or e-mail?
2. Has anyone moved back to Canada in the middle of the application and if so, how did that affect your application?
Story:
I'm a Canadian in the US with a Brazilian wife. She's on a student visa that expires the end of July. We plan to move to Canada before that visa expires (because entry for US students into Canada is easy, you just need an ETA). Our application was delivered March 12th and we have not heard anything. We don't expect to get everything done before July 31 obviously, but I was wondering when others in similar situations heard back from Immigration. I'd at least like to have access to some online portal so I can update contact information because I'll have moved back by August no matter what happens, and hopefully with my wife (although I realize they might deny her entry which would mean she'd have to kill time back in Brazil and/or get a tourist visa through normal channels to visit me). I certainly don't want them to send paperwork to my US address once I'm already back in Canada.
In other words, my sponsorship application might begin as outland but might ultimately become inland.
In any event, I am mainly curious about question #1 above. I am a bit surprised they haven't at least mailed a letter saying the application has been received.
Thanks
