Hello! I received communication from CIC that my PR application got transferred to the Etobicoke processing centre. Is this standard procedure? Does this mean anything in specific? If anyone has had the same experience, I am very curious in the process after the transfer. What are the wait times from this step forward? Should I expect further communication in the coming days? Any info you have is helpful. Thanks and Happy Canada Day! :D

It's not standard and yes, it means something specific. A transfer to the Etobicoke office typically means they have concerns about the application (either about the applicant or the relationship) and want to review the application more closely. Generally a transfer to the Etobicoke office means longer processing times. There are no standard processing times for the Etobicoke office since non-standard applications are transferred there - so very difficult to say what this means for your overall processing times.

I would order your notes to see why you have been transferred to Etobicoke. I would not wait for CIC to contact you.

Yikes! Not the answer I was hoping for. It's going to be a long weekend.

Yes a transfer to Etobicoke is sort of not good news. What country are you from? What red flags do you guys have? (ex. large age/cultural/educational difference, short courtship before marriage, previous attempts to enter Canada, marriage on first meeting, etc).

You should also order GCMS notes to find out what the officers' concerns are about your relationship and be prepared to address them should there be an interview. Note that since you applied inland, if you are refused because they don't think your relationship is genuine, you will not be able to appeal because their decision would be final.

My file was transferred to Edmonton on October 30th 2017, I waited for 8 months. Edmonton processing times are 12 months. I had an interview and my medical was extended for a year so I landed on 5th July. I applied in June 2016

Every case is different. They wanted to know why my son wasn’t included in my application so they asked me to
