hey

for canadian work experience, it has to be continuous:

"Canadian work experience

(3) For the purposes of this section, Canadian work experience is work experience that

(a) is acquired by a foreign national in Canada in one or more occupations listed in Skill Type 0 Management Occupations or Skill Level A or B of the National Occupational Classification matrix;
(b) consists of continuous full-time work experience or the full-time equivalent for part-time work experience; and
(c) is acquired within the 10-year period preceding the day on which points are assigned to the foreign national under subsection (1)."

you can find this in the Canada Gazette ministerial instructions regarding express entry December 1

Where did you get that? It contradicts what written in CIC website.

There is no continuous work experience requirement for CEC. It is a requirement for FSW (at least one year of continuous work experience). The above quote relates to qualifying under FSW. And the gazette does not specify the minimum requirement for any of the programs, just the points scheme for the comprehensive ranking system under the express entry.

In any case, break in work experience is not a problem to qualify under CEC so there must be something else going on.

Agreed!

So that's what I found out. I know I should not have played around with the online system but I did it anyways. So my skilled Canadian work experience is:

1. Period: March 2012 until July 2012
2. Period: March 2014 until Present

This is together around 15 months of Canadian work experience. So it should give me 40 Points as a single applicant.

I changed the work period in my online profile to October 2013 until present which makes it again 15 months. I did the electronic signature (hopefully are they not going to bust me for that) checked my CRS points and they changed from 0 to 40 Points for Canadian work experience. After that I immediately changed my work experience back to the above mentioned 1. period and 2. period and did the electronic signature thing again and it changed back to 0 Points.

So my conclusion is that the online system is only accounting work experience which is 12 months continuous.

On the other hand I am a little bit confused because it clear says to qualify for the CEC category the work experience has to be:

"at least 12 months of full-time (or an equal amount in part-time) skilled work experience in Canada in the three years before you apply"

So it looks like non-continuous Canadian work is ok for getting into CEC pool, but not for getting points in points system. Am I right to say that?

But then it also say "full-time equivalent for part-time work experience". Does that mean a longer period of work but less than 30 hrs/wk? Or multiple part-time employers that makes up 30 hrs/wk every week for the whole time applicants are claiming?

I called CIC yesterday and spoke to an agent. I described them the problem:

More than one year skilled Canadian work experience but my online Profile is showing me "CRS - Human Capital - Canadian Work Experience" = O points.

She was not able to help me and gave me the advise to right an email using the case specific enquiry form which I did.

Now the problem is that the wait time for a reply by CIC can be 30 days or more for any case specific response...

Looks like we have to go with less points into the first draw of express entry candidates :(

How can I emailed CIC to report the same problem? Does anyone knows the email address?

You can use this online form for any inquiry:

Well, that's shyte if it's true and not a glitch. I'm in a similar situation regarding work experience, the continuity requirement was not posted anywhere on their official website.

Hello.

I'm also not able to get my Canadian experience points which is reducing my score significantly. Can you guys please suggest whats wrong with the below?

1. Work Experience, Feb 05 - Jan 06 = 12 Months Continuous
2. NOC 6314, Skill B
3. Working hours, 35/week

It was postgrad work permit and I choose the option of "Work Permit Required , NO LMIA required"

I agree. I did the same. Now, we are screwed up with less points.

It's calculated from the date. So Jan 1st 2005 - Jan 1st 2006, or Feb 1st 2005 to Feb 1st 2006.

What did you enter as your start and end date for the job.
