Hi,
I received my ITA and I'm putting all the documents together. I've been reading a lot and I saw something that I did not see before about Canadian education.

I´m claiming points for that since I have a Master from an accredited university in Montreal. However, this program was done in three different countries, therefore I spent only 4 months in Canada. However, I was enrolled at the university for the full year, paid my tuition, and got my diploma from them.

When I filled in the profile, it gave me 30 points, but since I wasn' at least 8 months in Canada it seems that I might not be able to claim any.

Should I decline my invitation? or should I try to apply anyway??

PLEASE HELP!

Points are only assigned for Canadian study experience if, for the purpose of obtaining the credential, the candidate:

  • studied in Canada at a Canadian educational institution;
  • was enrolled in full-time study or training for at least eight months; and
  • was physically present in Canada for at least eight months.
Exceptions
(5) For the purpose of this section, the following are not eligible credentials:

  • (a) credentials obtained in a study or training program in which the study of English or French as a second language amounted to more than half of the program;
  • (b) credentials obtained in a study or training program in which distance learning amounted to more than half of the program; or
  • (c) credentials obtained in a study or training program while receiving a scholarship or fellowship that stipulated that the recipient return to their home country to apply the knowledge and skills gained.
You shouldn't claim those points and I would decline the invitation to avoid rejection.

That is awful!!!
The thing is that there is no place to enter the information about how long was I in Canada for this degree.

I'm kinda in the same situation... my Master's was from an accredited Canadian university and included a period abroad.
Is it true that it can't be used to claim points for Canadian education??

Right now I live and work in Canada, but I've just realized during my Master's I spent less than 8 months in Canada (despite studying full time and getting my degree here).

Does anyone know how the story ended? I just received the ITA and wondering what to do.
