I'm a Canadian Citizen married to an American, living in Connecticut, and we wish to move to Canada. We have applied for my wife's permanant residence in Canada and are waiting for the good news that she's approved. She also happens to be pregnant and do not expect to get her paperwork back before she has the baby.
My questions are these: 1) When our baby is born in the U.S, and we want to move to Canada, do we have to wait the 8-12 months for the Certificate of Birth Abroad and a Canadian passport in order to move the baby to Canada? 2) What happens if we try to cross the border to live in Canada without a Canadian Passport for the Baby? 3) Can we get health care (OHIP) for the baby?
Thanks so much!
