Hello everybody I just joined this forum because I was looking for some info on the internet and found this forum. I hope I will find some help here. I am Canada citizen & currently I am staying outside of Canada and married here, My husband is not Canadian Citizen ( I haven't apply for my husband yet ). For some info I am not by born Canadian citizen went to Canada by Family class sponsorship so I was PR for 3 years and then I got Citizenship. I am currently residing in Bangladesh with my husband since February 2012 and we want to have baby so if my child born here what will be the status of my child ? Will my child be a Canadian citizen or do I have to apply separately for my baby? Looking forward to get a little help here. Thank in advance.

Thank you kaboom786 for your quick response. Can you please post a source link where Canadian officials stated this ? I am really in big confusion please help me to clarify posting some more information and if you provide any details please be kind enough to share the link it will be great if I can take a look at that source too.

I like the reply above, maybe it was even copied from one of mine and still almost true except the waiting time for a citizenship card has now gone down to 8-9 months.
I do not know of a link where Canadian officials say exactly that but you can read that much if you look at the citizenship act or do the self-assessment at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/rules/index.asp punching in the data as if your child were doing it.
You would apply for a citizenship certificate for the child using these forms: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/proof.asp

Nothing that I know of. There is child tax benefit but you and your child must be living in Canada for you to get that. If you have worked enough hours in Canada in the past year or so, you might qualify for EI maternity benefits but you must be in Canada to get that too as far as I know.
