Canadian Citizen directed to Immigration office at Pearson.

Hello Everyone,

I took my oath at 11 January 2022 and Got my passport at 31 March. I visit my London at 7 May and then visit my home country at 9 May.
I returned to Canada June 17th from London. After kiosk check at Pearson, I got the recipe. When desk officer released me, officers at the door checked my recipe and asked me to go to immigration desk. They were surprised since I am a Canadian Citizen and put me on to front of the line.

Immigration officer told me that my refugee status is still not dropped! They tried to fix it but no luck. Eventually they sent an email to IRCC for fix. They also told me even if I visit USA via Niagra and return, I will have to see immigration on the border. I have been told either I have to contact IRCC personally or entering Canada will be like this forever!

I've never been outside of Canada until I got my citizenship btw.

Did anyone encounter this problem or it is just me?

Were you travelling on your Canadian Passport?

I'm hearing this happens a lot and someone told me it's not possible to remove the flag because it's the reason how we got here, not sure tho. Please keep us updated if you have any news, good luck!

I am very interested to know how come you solved it later. its a very important issue for us those who aren't citizen yet. A good solution of this issue is much expected. best of luck and pls updated us

Hi again,
I tried to call IRCC. They are incredibly busy so automated system not even put me into the line.

I went to IRCC at Montreal (I am actually from Toronto but I am here for bussines) Security not allowed me to enter. He said appointment only! Yet you cnnot have an apointment for that kind of issue.

Then I went to Canada Border Agency. Thankfully 2 security guards was ery helpful. An officer took my UCI number and passport. After waitin for 1 and half hour, he returned and said he couldnt access and will reach the system manager or something to see that issue. He will call me tomorrow.

He also said if nothing works that i should call my area's parliement member and tell the issue because this is not acceptable since I am a citizen.

I will update here if the situation changes.

That should be Your local MPP not the Federal MP.

I've been called from the office by the same gentleman yesterday (caller id shows GOUV CAN) He yold me he contacted IT/software drpt and flag will be dropped within weeks. He also reminded if it is not fixed on your next travel after 3 months, i should see my mpp. I will visit NY just to see the result.

He said this is a common issue and happens randomly.

I will update here after my visit to NY. See you guys in 3 months.

Great news indeed. So far i can understand this is a softwar administrative issue and nothing more. We will wait for the good news
