Hello!

My boyfriend and I have been in a relationship for almost 2 years now. Spent 4 months together, and the rest is LDR.

He is a Canadian citizen but is still in the university. He has part time jobs and is still receiving student loans for his studies.

Is it possible for him to sponsor me? If yes, what visa am I qualified to apply? Is there an income requirement?

your boyfriend can invite you to come to canada as temporary visa and you are eligible as extended family. then your boyfriend will marry you, so you can apply for inland spousal sponsorship

If we DO get married, do we need to show proof of funds for the spousal sponsorship? He’s still a full time student at the university and only has a part time job. He still has student loans also. Even though he’s already a citizen, I’m afraid his lack of full time work will be a problem for the sponsorship..

He can't sponsor you unless you are married or common-law (12 months continuously living together).

Yes he needs to show that he can support you financially with government help. If he doesn’t have the means and his family has the extra means and is they are willing to support you both they can include a letter stating they are willing to support you both or you temporarily. They’ll need to provide proof that they have the extra savings to be able to support your both temporarily like savings and investment account plus tax returns.

That should say without government help.
