Hey Guys,

I am From Afghanistan and currently doing my master degree here in Germany. I want to visit Canada for 1 or 2 weeks. My status:

  • I am enrolled in the thirds semester (Winter Sems 2016/2017)
  • My residential permit in Germany is valid till 20th October, 2016. I cant extend it since I am enrolled in University.
  • I have 7500 Euro in my account as of now
  • I don't work as I am full time student
  • I don't have family ties in Canada. Just wanna visit as tourist
  • Travel History: I did my bachelor degree in India. Visited Taiwan in 2007. Now in Germany and have been to France, Switzerland, Austria etc
I have to be back in Germany to complete my third semester and write my thesis.

How would be my chances of being accepted? Would you please suggest if I can improve my status.

Regards

Hi,

1. Do you have a Student Visa? Wouldn't you need a residence permit if you intend to study beyond 90 days?

2. When do you intend to visit i.e. before/after October 20th?

3. Do you have a tenancy agreement in your name in Germany?

4. Credit cards?

5. You must prepare a detailed day-by-day itinerary of places you would like to visit in Canada with detailed expense estimates. You must prove that you have sufficient funds to pay for this itinerary + airfare + hotel + incidentals + medical insurance (although this is not mandatory)

6. What ties can you prove to your home country: Family + property/land ownership + financial situation?

Cheers

Hi,
Thank you for the reply.

1. I came to Germany with student visa. I got a residence permit for one year as the city I am living in Germany, issues residence permit for one year.

2. I want to visit before 20th October (Summer vacation here). But I don't know if I can get visa soon.

Would it be good to extend my permit before applying for Canada visa? Here in Germany it takes 10 day for Canada visa processing according to their website.

3. Yes, I have a tenancy agreement.

4. I have an account in Deutsche Bank where I have my money deposited since one year (Initially was around 17000CAD, now 10800CAD).
That is all. Is this enough?

5. I think this money would be enough for a 10 days trip.

6. My family (Parents) are living in Kabul. Our family have a building in which I own an apartment but the document which I have is in Persian (difficult to find official translator here).

I would really appreciate to have your further advice.

Cheers

Hi,

1. I came to Germany with student visa. I got a residence permit for one year as the city I am living in Germany, issues residence permit for one year.
As your ties to Germany are *temporary*, you must provide adequate evidence of your immigration status in Germany..... student visa + residence permit + student ID/certificate of enrollment+ confirmation of registration from the Residents Registration Office, etc

2. I want to visit before 20th October (Summer vacation here). But I don't know if I can get visa soon.
If you go through the recent posts on this forum, there were a couple of Iranians who had applied from Germany and the processing time was several weeks longer than the IRCC stated time. Probably due to background checks. Maybe these were one-off cases.

Would it be good to extend my permit before applying for Canada visa? Here in Germany it takes 10 day for Canada visa processing according to their website.
Yes, do renew it before you apply for the Canada TRV. This is why I asked when do you intend to visit.

3. Yes, I have a tenancy agreement.
Do include a copy of your tenancy agreement + 2-3 months latest payments + highlight any forfeiture clause

4. I have an account in Deutsche Bank where I have my money deposited since one year (Initially was around 17000CAD, now 10800CAD).
That is all. Is this enough?
Do work out the day-by-day itinerary with detailed estimates for entry fees + meals + local travel + hotel + airfare, etc.... and check if the bank balance is sufficient + surplus funds to return to/pay the rent or expenses

5. I think this money would be enough for a 10 days trip.
My suggestion for Point 4

6. My family (Parents) are living in Kabul. Our family have a building in which I own an apartment but the document which I have is in Persian (difficult to find official translator here).
Can you get it translated in Afghanistan (certified translation along with an affidavit swearing the accuracy of the translation)?

Also, include self-valuation/valuation by a chartered accountant for the current indicative market rates + any property tax receipts in your name

Do you have a Canadian host? Will you be visiting friends?

Cheers

Hi,

I want to visit as a tourist. I will stay in hotel. We do have relatives there but don't want to involve them.

I think my university enrollment along with other things you mentioned would be enough. What do you say?

Because staying there longer than that period means giving up my master degree which I have almost completed 65% of the credits.
I don't know how they will consider this clause in my application. What do you say?

cheers,
:)

I strongly recommend that you plan your visit after you renew your residence permit.

Also, do include proofs of leave approval from your university stating you are a bona fide student + tuition fee receipts for the current and next semesters + a letter from your professor about the status of your research and you must return to complete your thesis/to get your degree.

Do post the list of documents that you will submit when you're ready to apply
