The experts on this forum have provided excellent advice to your queries. Hence, I will share my experience about a UK Visa refusal and my recent Canada TRV
I had a UK Family Visit Visa refusal in 2008.... and two days ago, I have successfully had a Canada TRV issued for the Lifetime of my passport
My UK refusal, in 2008, was mostly because I left it to the ECO (UK Entry Clearance Officer) to figure out my paperwork.... a complete mistake on my part. I wisened up for the visa applications for any country after that
I did, however, file an appeal..... because my sponsor for that UK visa was a relative..... I provided detailed evidence and explanations against each of the points cited by the ECO.... won my appeal..... traveled on that visa
Later - from my very next UK Visit Visa onwards (ie after I won the Refusal case and traveled on that visa - all subsequent UK visit visas) have been stamped in my passport.... in 24 hours..... under Fast Track Priority Processing
To answer your question:
No, a previous UK visa refusal does not affect your Canada TRV as each visa application is evaluated on its own merits. However, please do
NOT hide this fact from the Canada VO. Give full details in your Canada TRV along with an explanation. Not disclosing a visa refusal could even lead to a ban for misrepresentation - based on what I have read.
Even for the UK itself, my previous UK visa refusal did not affect my subsequent visas..... probably because I had won the appeal.
If you have traveled to Schengen countries, Australia, etc.... basically countries which have strong procedures for evaluating visa applications, then will help. In that case, you should submit a 'My Travel History' explanation with your Canada TRV giving details of those visas, entry/exit dates, etc
Regarding your UK Visa:
Did you apply as a UK Family Visit? If yes, then you would have 28 days to file an appeal.
If you have had both UK and Canada visa refusals, my guess is that your documentation is not strong enough.... please remember that you need to show VERY strong ties to your country of residence..... backed by proofs and explanations. This could be a job, properties, funds/finances, family ties, purpose of visit (not just to see the Niagara Falls LOL), etc etc
The VO looks at the balance of probabilities that you will return to your country of residence.... and that you are not likely to remain in Canada or the UK.
Hope this helps. All the best
