Canada Visa stamping with renewed work permit

Hello All,

We have a work permit that was renewed and valid till 2021. We had to travel to London and didn't know that we cant travel back without a valid Visa stamp in the passports. So while heading back to Canada we were asked to go to embassy to get a valid Visa in the passports. Here are my questions,

1. How can I get my Visa stamped in the passport from London? Would it require us to file a fresh Visa application?
2. Does anyone know the easiest way to get this done while away from Canada?

1. Yes, you need to apply for a new one.

2. There is no easy way. You just apply, like everyone else.

Thanks for the response. Which Visa type should I apply for? Should it be a new visitor Visa? My confusion lies on the fact that if we apply for a visitor Visa will be considered as visitors and not some one with a valid work permit. Thanks in advance.
