Hi All,
I hope you guys are doing really well!!

I am applying for visitor visa in a group and I am taking care of all expenses. We are visiting Canada to my in laws maternal family (my wife's maternal family). I have 2 small concerns about my
Visitor visa application.

1. My Wife passport has no surname. Will it be an issue to get visitor visa? Her other documents i.e certificates etc are also without surname however I think I don't need her certificates to attach to visitor visa application. On our marriage certification she has her new after marriage surname added. Please suggest me for this confusion. If there will be an impact - what should I do to recover this?

2. Is it okay to get an invitation letter from my in law family who is Govt. Employee in Canada? Please suggest me on this as well. Should we apply on our own or should we get an invitation letter?

I am really looking forward for these concerns solved. Kindly help me on the above matters.
Thank you

You would want to ensure that each applicant is able to individually demonstrate exceptionally strong ties to your home country. With your entire family applying together, you don't have any family members in your home country to return to. This does not help for visa applications.

Not sure how she was issued a passport with only a given name. If possible, do try to get a new passport reissued with her married surname before she applies.

Otherwise, she must enter her complete given name in the family name/surname field of the the TRV application.... and leave the given name field as blank.

Your in-law being an Canadian government employee has no impact on your applications. That said, an invitation letter could help to some extent compared to applying on your own as tourists.

Even with an invitation letter, you need to prove that you can afford the visit for your entire family plus airfare + each of you has compelling reasons to leave Canada (example, employment/business + property ownership + good financial situation + previous travel history to the US/UK/Schengen/Australia/NZ, etc)

Thank you Bryanna for your response.

Please help me after considering following points.
=> I have my brother and his family left in India basically - not sure if they will count them as family or not.
=> I have enough funds in my savings and I am running my Pvt. Ltd. IT company here in India. I have the certificate of registration of company as well as Memorandum of Articles to as a proof of my ownership.
=> I have property on my name and my mother name, have car, credits cards with great limit can be counted as Assets (still not sure please help me here).
=> I have visited UK as a visitor (Type C - business visitor two times) and I have still visa valid for UK.

Just an Idea: How much funds you think is fine for me, wife, mother and new born baby for around 1 and half months visit?
Thank you so much your help!

Hi

You would want to ensure that each applicant is able to individually demonstrate exceptionally strong ties to your home country. With your entire family applying together, you don't have any family members in your home country to return to. This does not help for visa applications.

1. It is not unusual for some countries to have only a single name on a passport, Malaysia is good example. In applications you just put the name in the surname field and leave given name blank.

Going by the OP's forum name, he is most probably from India or Nepal i.e. "Gitesh Dang".

Passport applicants fill the passport application online. Sometimes it is possible that the entire name was incorrectly filled in the given name field, while the family name field was left blank. It is considered misrepresentation (and a penalty is possible) if someone provides incorrect identity for a India passport.

I'm guessing his wife probably has a name like "Gita Kumari + surname" or "Gita Devi + surname" but the given name in her passport name is "Gita Kumari/Devi" while her family name field was left as blank.

Also, as his wife has added her married family name to her name, it would be much easier for her future travel/visas/official documents of any type.... to have a new passport issued in her complete married name

No, they won't count as family ties to return to because both you and your brother are married and have your own families.

You would need to include more evidence than just this to prove your business is actively trading + you do/don't have business partners who can manage the company in your absence + you have employees + whether or not you are allowed to use company funds for a private visit abroad, etc

These will certainly help both your mom and yourself.

Credit card dues/outstanding, if low each month, would be viewed as a good financial situation.

You should include a Travel History explanation for your previous UK/visits to other countries + scan the UK visa and include it.

A 1.5 months visit for yourself would indicate weak business ties. Your stated visit should be for 3-4 weeks, maybe around national holidays to maximize the visit length.

Funds: Personal funds earned by each of you or solely by yourself, not borrowed from anyone, not transferred from your company bank account (if you have business partners then any bank transfers for your visit must be permitted by them).... must match your tax assessment.

You should also include a Letter of Financial Support signed by you offering to pay the expenses for the other applicants.

Do keep in mind that each applicant must prove his/her strong ties to return to your home country. Applications are evaluated on individual merits and not as a family application

I think you will find that birth tourism is not something that most Canadians approve of especially because it usually involves deception when it comes to visa approval. Most hospitals will want you to pay in advance for basic delivery and then make arrangement to pay for any extra costs.
