canada recession 2012 ???

i am applying for a twp in canada as food counter attendant. meanwhile a friend who is also applying as twp told me that there's a recession in canada. so it will be a hard time for us to get twp for this year .

is it true ? actually i dont have any idea since im just an applicant.. any one whos from canada or have any idea regarding the status of their economy today ??? thnks in advance
