i want to start group five for my family. they are in ethiopia but it took time to process there so i want to migrate them to other area. as i am seen it takes time more than three years in ethiopia. so would you know any country that can take time shortly for processing.

You can check processing times for various countries here: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/check-processing-times.html

Note that your family must be recognized as refugees in the country where they are staying (either by UNHCR or by the government of that country) in order for you to be able to submit an application to sponsor them through Group of Five.

So if they are from Ethiopia, they cannot claim from there. They need to go to another country and be registered as refugees. Then once registered and approved through UNHCR, you can start the process. First your group of 5 application has to be approved. So they can look at neighbouring countries and determine what is the best place to claim refugee status and be able to live for several years during the process.

I had a quick look and the process times for the countries close to Ethiopia don't look much better. If you are already two years into the process in Ethiopia, I would stick with Ethiopia.

they aren't ethiopians. they are eritrean refugees who lives there.
So they haven’t claimed refugee status with UNHCR or the government yet? You can look at processing times for different countries but they all are going to take years. There is no “quick processing” country.

1. Have they claimed in Ethiopia? If not, they need to be approved through UNHCR which will take some time too.
2. Have you even formed a group of 5, and been approved?
3. If not, it will not matter where they file. It is many years.

Ah, I see. I got confused because first post says, “i want to start group five for my family.“ Agree, that if being processed for the last couple of years to just wait and follow the process. If they move, the process may or may not start over.
