1.You have to land within one year of the date u had done ur medicals OR before the expiry date of your Passports,WHICHEVER COMES FIRST.
2.You have to spend atleast 3 yrs within the period of 4 yrs to apply for citizenship, the staying period could be continuous or intermitent.

3.Yes you can stay outside of Canada continuously for 3 yrs but make sure to have a very good watch on the count of ur 730 days. But its better if u come one or two months before the end of your 3 yrs, just to be on safe side.(seniors plz contribute more in this regard)

Hi

I did not get your last point.

Please correct me if I am wrong. PR is valid for 5 years, in that 5 years you need be in CANADA for minimum 730 days to get another 5 years, or you should be in Canada by the time your first PR expires so that you get extension of 5 years irrespective of you spent 730 days or not

Ignore the date on the PR Card, in every 5 year period you must reside in Canada for 2 years (certain exceptions) It is a "rolling" 5 year period. When you first "land" lets say 01/Jan/09. you must have the 730 days in Canada by 01/Jan/14. Lets say you lived in Canada from 01/01/09 to 01/01/11 and then left. You would have to return to Canada by 01/01/14 and REMAIN continuously in Canada until 01/01/16 to preserve your PR status.

Pr and citizenship are two different animals. For citizenship you need to physically reside in Canada for 3 years in the 4 years the day you sign the application.
