Guys, I am here in US on F1- STEM OPT Visa. My Canadian PR application was approved a week back. Can you please me on below questions:

Questions:

1. Can I apply for US Green card and move to Canada for 5 years, become Canadian Citizen and again come back to US to resume my GC process where I left it without loosing the priority date?

2. Is H1b necessary to apply for US green card?

3. Can I apply for US Green card while on OPT?

4. Can I apply for US Green card while living in Canada?

I am thinking to have Canadian citizenship as a back up. For becoming Canadian citizen, I will have to live in Canada for close to 5 years. So meanwhile i become Citizen, can I parallely continue my US GC process?

Thanks!

my husband is a permanent resident in Canada for over 25 years, he has a british passport and his pr card has expired, we booked a trip to cuba end of june and we quickly started an application to renew his pr card, we sent it july 4th , however a month later august 5th we received a letter that the picture size was incorrect so we sent the right size of photos, however now his application hasnt started processing and our trip is in Sept 20th! my question is, with a brand new (just renewed) brithish passport and expired pr card, receipt of payment for renewal pr card and record of landing paper will he be able to travel? thanks in advance for answeres

You should start your own thread for this topic.

Short answer is no he can't travel. The airline won't let him board return flight to Canada unless he has a valid PR card or PR Travel document. If you are just going for a short trip, it may not be enough time to arrange for a Travel Document from Cuba (you would apply at visa section of Canadian Embassy in Havana).

why are you encouraging hijacking of threads by answering on others thread?

so really your post given this is a Canada immigration forum and your questions are about US immigration they should be posted in a US forum to get advice on green card applications whether US immigration have any restrictions/requirements . http://forums.immigration.com/

Granted there may be someone who has followed the same path on here but is possibly a longshot given most people on the forum have one objective that is to live in Canada permenantly without a 'backup' plan to live in the US.
