9.1 Are there certain medical requirements for immigration to Canada?

Yes. You and ALL your dependents, whether accompanying you or not, must undergo and pass a medical examination. To pass the medical examination you or your dependents must not have a condition that is a danger to public health or safety or would cause excessive demand on health or social services in Canada. The medical examination includes a standard physical examination, blood tests, urine tests, and X-Rays.

9.2 Will my application be rejected if I have a certain disease or disorder?

In most cases, in order to pose a danger to public health and safety the person must have a medical condition or disease which is or could be contagious. It this is not the case, there will usually be no danger to the public health or safety. However, even persons with contagious diseases are not necessarily inadmissible. The severity of the medical condition and the ease in which is is transmitted to others must be considered.

9.3 If I am pregnant, will I still have to undergo the medical examination?

If you are pregnant, you will not be able to complete the x-ray portion of the medical and will have to wait until after delivery and the child then would need to be added to your application.

Depending on the immigrant category in which you are applying, being pregnant might effect your application. An example would be if you are applying as an independent, the visa officer may question how you will
support yourself.

9.4 Can my dependents undergo the medical examination in another country?

Whenever possible, the same DMP should perform the medical examination of all family members. If this is not possible, advise the visa office that your dependents are abroad and the visa office will arrange to have their medical examinations done by a DMP closer to their place where they live. The visa office will forward a copy of the Medical Report: Section A, Client Identification & Summary (IMM 1017) to them, with the address of their nearest DMP. The visa office will fill in the tombstone data and affix a photograph of your dependent to the form.

9.5 Must everyone in my family have a medical examination?

Yes. All of your dependents who are not already permanent residents or Canadian citizens, whether they will accompany you to Canada or not, must undergo a medical examination.

Why ... and my family must have medical examination
I don't believe this

I want to apply alone
Explorer - have you sent a case specific email about this issue? I think you were asking this question earlier in the week. It sounds as if there is a mistake made by VO.

Hello everyone, I've been working here in Canada for almost 4 yrs. now as a skilled worker, and I applied my PR through CEC program, but I did not include my family on that application, the medical request already arrived for me and for my family as well. My problem is, my wife was diagnosed recently that she has a mild tuberculosis by our family doctor, but now she's already taking medicines to cure the problem, do you think this would affect my PR application if ever my wife failed the actual medical examination, even though she's not accompanying? Thank You.

Thank You for the reply, but the medication will take 6 months and my deadline for the submission of my family's medical result is already next month, but as I've said they're not included yet on my PR application as of this time, but as a rule they are also required to undergo a medical examination even if they're not accompanying me here in Canada. Do you think it will not affect my PR application if ever my wife failed the medical exam? Thank you..

I can't directly answer your querry if will it affect or not affect your pr application but in my own opinion, you are the principal applicant and she's not yet processed to accompany you there, so it might probably not affect your application

Hello,

I am planning to apply for express entry after I take the CELPIP exam in canada. (I will be there for a Phd with my spouse and toddler in from September on). As far as I understand, we need to add the results of a medical exam to our application.
Should we take the medical exam here in our own country, or wait till we arrive there? Would it make a difference, and how long are they valid for, if we do them here and then apply in september or october in canada?
thank you!
