Hi,

I am from India and planning to apply for Canada Immigration. Before I pose any questions I would like to give you some background :)

I went to US in 2004 on F1 Visa and lived there for five years. In these five years my status changed from F1-OPT-H1B, I completed my MS in Engineering and worked as a Software Consultant for 1+ years (Full Time), worked as Intern for 11 months (Full time Intern) and worked as Intern 1+ years (Part Time Intern).
I was on H1B for 1 year (until OCT 2009) and later my H1B got revoked due to my employer's incorrect information provided to Visa Officer. Anyway, I don't wanna complain but wanna move on. So I thought to apply for Canada Immigration under Skilled worker immigration program (SWI).

I have few questions regarding the immigration. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

1. Am I eligible for Canada Immigration under SWI? If not, is there any other program where I would be eligible?
2. If eligible under any of the immigration programs, what are the steps I need to follow to successfully complete the processing?
3. What are the fee/service charges that will be involved while processing?
4. What would be the duration to complete the processing?
5. Most important thing, is it right time to apply for canada immigration? (As my H1B got revoked in OCT2009, will it has any impact on Canada Immigration Processing)

Please provide me with your valuable suggestions.

Hello,

1. Since you got IT/Software background, follow the link http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2006/QuickSearch.aspx?val65=0213
to see if you are eligible for FSW immigration to Canada.

2. Follow the guidelines, documents, forms at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/skilled.asp to apply for FSW immigration

3. Adult fee for initial processing is 550 CAD for single person and 150 for minors, follow the above mentioned link for detailed guidelines.

4. It is taking on average 1 year for teh whole process

5. It's the right time as only 38 occupations are left on NOC list and only Info sys managers in the field of IT, who knows in the days/weeks/months to come the list gets shorten or wipes out totally.

- I would suggest you apply for Australia immigration if you are at entry or mid-level of your career. It's easy and straight forward, though expensive than Canada, but for IT professionals they have better options than Canada.

Thanks

BTW this is not the forum of Australia Immigration so we can't discuss it much. Just for the start, you need to send your relevant documents to ACS (Australian computer Society) for initial assessment of your docs and after approval that takes around 3,4 months your immigration process starts. Total duration is around 10 - 18 months with the expense of 2100 Australian Dollars.

Hope this helps and for further info please visit

Thanks
