The number of people admitted under the CEC has grown to 6,000 in 2011 from 2,500 in 2009, and Kenney hopes to raise the 2013 level to 10,000.

Kenney’s report said progress has been made with the elimination of the federal skilled workers backlog from a high of 640,000 applications to 290,972 in June.

Kenney announced Canada would admit between 240,000 and 265,000 newcomers in 2013, a target that’s gone unchanged since 2006.

However, there will be a significant change in the number of foreigners admitted in what’s called the Canadian Experience Class: a stream that fast-tracks highly-skilled immigrants who have prior experience studying or working in Canada.

thanks for the info. :D

Meanwhile, Kenney will also announce Friday that Canada will admit between 53,500 to 55,300 permanent residents in 2013 under a revamped federal skilled worker program that better reflects Canada’s labour market needs. It’s about 2,700 fewer people than were targeted for admission this year.

Earlier this week, Kenney announced the federal skilled worker program would be reduced as he was increasing to 10,000 the number of international students and temporary foreign workers already in Canada who would be admitted through the Canada Experience Program. Though the makeup of newcomers was shifting slightly, he also indicated immigration targets would remain frozen for the seventh straight year at between 240,000 and 265,000.

Hi Bongcan!

Does this "Canadian Experience Class" will affect MI-1 applicants? What's your say on this?

I also applied last year but coudnt succeed to beat cap. I am planning to apply in new scheme. Can some body tell, is there any change in the requirements/forms from that of last year. i heared some one saying that now you need to get assessed your degrees and other qualifications. Appreciate if i get some guidance.

Hi Suhas,

The new Canadian immigration scheme is yet to be announced. It is constantly mentioned that there will be a lot of new attributes they would introduce to make the immigration system more efficient and to match that of other countries like New Zealand, Australia, etc. Other than a lot of guesses, it is right now not very clear as to what and how exactly will the new system will be till an official declaration is made by the concerned Minister...Also, the list of NOCs which will be in demand is also yet to be announced. Any ways, keep all your documents ready and apply as soon as the new system starts before they reach the cap. Good luck.

You may also look at a very important statement made by Honorable Minister Kenny today(2nd Nov 2012) in the following link:

Very excited about the changes to CEC. We need to keep the people we've trained! New graduates are a valuable resource, already familiar with Canadian law, lifestyle, and have a life here. A CEC applicant already gave years of his/her life to Canada.
